Sounds of The Cornell Chimes
This is where you can actually hear the Cornell Chimes in action. If you are at Cornell, we recommend listening to a concert from the Uris Library Terrace or the Arts Quad, or even attending a concert live at the top of the tower. But for those of you in more remote locations, the digitized sound will have to do.
The following pieces, which can be downloaded in MP3 or Windows Media format, are from the newest chimes CD Far Above Cayuga's Waters. This is the first chimes recording after the renovation of the tower and tuning of the bells.
Click here (high speed, low speed) to watch video of a Cornell Alma Mater performance (requires Flash 8).
- The Cornell Changes, also known as the Jennie McGraw Rag — in honor of Jennie McGraw, who donated the money
for Cornell's original 9-bell chime. The Rag is the first song played at each morning's chimes concert.
